This is a handwritten manuscript by Hiram Edson written in the late 1850s recounting his experience around the time of October 22, 1844. The well known cornfield vision is on page 9a. Historians who have studied this manuscript feel it was written many years after the events described, and that Edson brought in certain ideas gains through the intervening years that were not known in 1844.
Manuscript is incomplete in that it is missing the pages prior to page 5 and the pages following page 10a. There are 12 sheets of paper with Edson's numbering of 5 to 10. Every second sheet has been numbered by someone else with an "a" number--e.g. 5a. Page 5 and page 5a were originally one longer sheet of paper but through time they came apart. To keep the proper sequence the bottom portion of the page was numbered with the "a" number.
