Leatha to L. C. Coulston. 1934 Jun, Peiping, China. ALS, 4 pp. -- Feels like a ship without a rudder – so much to do and to think about. Mr. Christian has been appointed administrator of everything, but he is not clever nor is he awfully bright. She has to pay the attorney 5% on everything, including Elmer’s clothes. They have even asked whether there is any money in America. Doesn’t understand why everything should be turned over to lawyers. She is staying with Florence and Adali in Peking. Leaving on Wednesday. Talks how Elmer fought for his life and how hard it was to see him die. Doesn’t seem like it could be God’s will for him to go. Outwardly she appears brave, but she is struggling so inside. Struggling with her faith. Gets conflicting advice. About broke her heart to leave Kalgan, four weeks to the night she took Elmer to Peiping.
